Berry Cherry Video Poker is played and programmed according to Atlantic City Poker rules.
Authority: New Jersey Casino Control Commission.
Rule Exceptions: None.
Berry Cherry Video Poker machines operate like any Video Poker machine found in the casinos throughout the world. The only difference, which is greatly favorable for the player, is that you can switch your bet from $0.25 to $5 a game without changing to another machine! A 52-card deck is used and reshuffled after each hand. The different combinations and their respective payoffs are shown in the Payoff section below.
The objective of Video Poker is to receive the highest ranked five-card poker hand possible. Begin by selecting which coin denomination you wish to play - $0.25, $1, $2, or $5. To increase or decrease denominations, please click on the up arrow or down arrow buttons, respectively, at the bottom right of the Video Poker machine.
Once you have selected a coin denomination, the amount of coins you have available within the machine is shown in the CREDITS field. For example, if you click on the BET ONE button (with a balance of $100) when the coin denomination selector is set to $1, you will see 99 in the CREDITS field and 1 in the BET field for a total of 100. If you then click the "up arrow" button of the coin denomination selector (which changes the coin value to $2.), you will then see that the CREDITS field has been changed to 50 coins. The BET field will be reset to show that 0 credits have been bet and you will be allowed to bet the desired amount of credits at your new denomination level. Please note that the Balance field will not change when you change the coin denomination since it shows your balance in dollars (not coins).
You can start playing by clicking on the BET ONE until the bet field reflects the amount of coins you would like to play, to a maximum of 5. If you would like to play with the maximum amount of coins (5), you may alternatively choose to simply click the BET MAX button. When you are ready, click on the DEAL button to distribute the cards. You will be dealt 5 cards. The machine uses a 52-card deck, which is shuffled before/after each hand. After receiving your cards, you must decide which cards you should hold to better your odds of achieving the highest ranked poker hand possible, once the cards are drawn. All cards that are not held will be replaced during the draw. You may hold cards by either clicking directly on them or by clicking on the numbered button directly below the card (buttons are numbered 1 to 5). When you hold a card, the word HELD will appear on the card. Once you have selected the card(s) you wish to hold, click on the DRAW button. The cards that were not held will be replaced. If after this replacement you have any combination of cards that qualifies for a payout, your payout, in number of coins, will be shown in the PAID field. Your balance will decrease by the bet amount after you click the DRAW button. If you win, your balance will be increased by amount won. By pressing the DEAL button you can rebet your previous bet amount.
Each Video Poker machine displays its own unique payoff table. The following example is from Jacks or Better.
Jacks or Better
Jacks or Better indicates that a pair pays off only if the cards in the pair are Jacks, Queens, Kings, or Aces. A lower pair does not pay off.
